Blogger Mail from Bourjois

I received these Bourjois products a while ago, I shared some of my first impressions on Instagram, as well as some swatches and I had photos prepared since I got them, but I never got around on doing a proper review. I haven't tried a lot of products from Bourjois but I always see bloggers raving about them. This time I tested the Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipstick, Satin Edition 24h Eyeshadow and a Glossy Finish Lipstick.

The design is basically the same as by the famous Rouge Velvets. The bottle contains 8ml of product and it costs around 10€. The applicator is fluffier than by the Rouge Velvets. I don't use it a lot, because I couldn't figure it out yet, how to get an even application with it, it just gets messy if I use it.

I got used to applying it over a normal powdery shadow, this way it looks the best. If I apply it on its own, I do two-three coats. Usually, it works out okay, but sometimes I need more time so it looks even and nicely blended on both sides. Also, it's quite hard to blend, if I tried blending it with my fingers or brush, I was just moving the product all over, making it sheerer in some places. The best method I find it works is that you tap it gently with your finger. It was a bit messy at first but then I did get more used to blend it.

It dries down quickly, it needs about two minutes or less. After it dries it stays in place for the whole day, without smudging or creasing03 Mauve Your Body is a cool mauve with some grey tones. It has a metallic shine to it, with quite a lot of tiny shimmer.

It comes in a square packaging as all their Rouge Velvets, I already have a review of a brown shade called Cool Brown here. It contains 7,7ml of products and this one also costs around 10€. The applicator is soft, easy to use and precise.

The formula is nice but quite watered down, it's very thin and not very pigmented, you will need two coats for an even application. Feels like a very light mousse, it has a light, fluffy texture, that's the best way I can describe it. I would suggest using a lip liner with this shade because it can bleed. It does take some time to dry, about 20-30 minutes, but I do apply two coats. It feels very comfortable on the lips, even after a couple of hours.

23 Chocolate Corset is a dark deep red shade. It dries completely matte. It's not very longlasting and since it's such a deep shade, it quickly shows when the inner rim of the lips starts to fade. It survives drinking, but not eating.

Here you can see that the bottles of the lipstick and the liquid shadow are the same, the only difference I can see, is that the shadow has a fluffier applicator.

The lipstick comes in a crayon type packaging and you twist the product out. You get 2,75g of product for around 8€. The lipstick twists out, I have been using it a lot and everything still works fine.

The formula is so nice, it just glides on the lips. It feels like a lip balm, a bit waxy but moisturizing. It's super easy to apply. I expected the pigmentation to be on a sheerer side, but it's actually not, it's pretty well pigmented, to the point that I have to be a little careful that I don't apply too much. Even though it's glossy, it's not sticky at all. The formula also contains an SPF 15, which is always a plus. The finish is glossy, but not too shiny.

04 Peach on the Beach is a peachy pink shade. Maybe a bit too pink for my taste. That's why I try to apply it lightly because the pink is a bit too strong for my complexion. If you're careful it can last for a couple of hours, it will fade after, especially the shine and it won't survive eating.

I like the velvet lipstick, I just wish it would be a shade that would suit me more, I have one lighter shade that didn't really convince me, it's a bit light for me and it can look a bit patchy. I like this one a lot better, it just looks a lot more even on the lips. It could be more pigmented, but I love the formula and how comfortable it feels. The shadow is nice, you need a bit more effort to make it work, but once you do, it looks amazing. If I'm honest I haven't used it in a while because I just can't be bothered with any shadow in this heat. The glossy lipstick is great, it feels like a waxy lip balm and it is nicely pigmented. Also, it's a great summery shade.

Thank you for reading!
