It's that time of the year again, when Catrice launches new makeup products, this time for spring and summer 2020. I had some products on my wishlist and I got a chance to test some of them. I still have the 5-in-1 Setting Powder high on my WL. If you haven't noticed yet, Catrice also added a skincare section to their stand, I tested the Hydro plumping Serum that contains hyaluronic acid.
Catrice Poreless Perfection Mousse Foundation 010 Neutral Nude
The foundation comes in a tube with 30ml of product. Catrice says it's a silicone-free formula and it should leave the skin looking smoother with visibly refined pores and a matte finish. They say the formula is mousse-like, that it melts into the skin and covers up redness and small imperfections.
I wouldn't call this formula a mousse, for a mousse I expect it to be lighter and fluffy, if you know what I mean. It's so thick that it's hard to get out of the tube. It's also hard to blend, I always blend it with my fingers because it melts a bit better but it's still hard work. It also sinks into fine lines and exaggerates texture, especially on dry skin. It just looks heavy. You can probably see on the swatch how it started to get into lines after just a minute or so. It doesn't really have a scent, which is a plus from my side.
There are only four shades available, mine is the second lightest, called 010 Neutral Nude and it's already very dark, it also oxidizes on me. On my hand, it actually turns into a very scary Oompa Loompa shade.
I tested this one and Max Factor's Facefinity, they almost give the same result, they both look very dry, but Facefinity is at least easy to blend and still looks better, Catrice's looks too heavy. Facefinity also feels a lot lighter on the skin, this one feels like the skin can't breathe at all.
Catrice Instant Awake Concealer 005 Neutral Light
The Instant Awake Concealer comes in a twist-up packaging that contains 1,8ml of product. I like the system. It comes with a clear lid that does get messy quickly. When I only used it a couple of times, I already had a concealer all over the applicator and the lid. The concealer comes with a sponge, you can't really blend the concealer with it but it's super easy to apply it and it's very soft, I love it, even though it's not the most hygienic. You don't have to twist much for the product to come out.
There are five shades to chose from but I'm not sure if we have all of them in Slovenia. My shade is called 005 Neutral Light. There is one lighter shade available. This one also oxidizes into a slightly darker cooler tone.
The formula is amazing. My first choice in the past few months was normally Bourjois Radiance Reveal but this one replaced it almost instantly. It's a very light and almost airy texture that blends like a dream. It lasts all day on me without creasing, I do set it with a powder. I love how it looks, it almost looks like nothing, it's very natural and brightening. It's not high coverage but I don't mind that at all, I prefer products that look natural, even though if my imperfections are showing. I was a fan of Catrice's famous Camouflage Concealer but I like this one a lot better.
Catrice Hydro Plumping Serum
The serum comes in a transparent glass bottle that contains 30ml of product. It comes with a pipette, it does the job but it doesn't really work properly. Catrice says serum contains 1,5% of hyaluronic acid and that it can be applied to the skin as a boost of hydration before makeup.
The serum is transparent and on the thicker side. They say to use 2 drops of it for the whole face and that's totally enough. It leaves a sticky film on the skin but I always quickly follow with cream, so it doesn't really bother me but I do usually apply the serum at night because I don't have time in the morning, so I can't say how makeup performs over it.
At first, I thought it's breaking me out but then I stopped with almost everything that I was using and once I finally decided to bring it back to my routine, I didn't notice that it would break me up, my skin even looked better when I was using it. I even see a difference when I don't use it for a couple of days, my skin starts to look and feel drier instantly. I will definitely repurchase. For around 5€ or so it's a great deal.
