Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 14 Mint Map and 05 It's All About Red

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 14 Mint Map and 05 It's All About Red

Catrice is coming out with a whole new line of nail polishes called ICONails. I haven't seen the whole line yet, but I did spot a preview collection in Müller and also DM. There will be 45 new shades, which is not the best for my wallet. These are supposed to have a shiny finish and last up to seven days.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 14 Mint Map and 05 It's All About Red

When I spotted the preview collection in Müller there wasn't much left, there were only greys and greens/blues if I remember correctly. I thought of getting one grey and one minty shade, but at the end, I decided I have enough of grey nail polishes, but I couldn't pass on the mint one. It is called 14 Mint Map. About two weeks later I received 05 It's All About Red shade from Slovenian Essence team. I normally don't wear bright red polishes, but I fell in love with this one.
They come in a square glass bottle, which I like, because I can store them better. They have a double cap, that separates and I love that, it is easier to apply the nail polish. The brush is just perfect. It's a lot thinner than by their old Ultimate Lacquer line and round cut.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 14 Mint Map

14 Mint Mapa gorgeous colour, a mix of blue and green, in the bottle it looks a bit more blue than on the nails (at least in the sunlight). At first, it looked like a dupe for Essence's Play With My Mint, but that one is more on a greener side. The formula is very creamy, it reminds me a lot on Essence's The Gel nail polishes. Maybe it could be full opaque with one coat, but I applied two coats

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 05 It's All About Red

05 It's All About Red* - vibrant medium red shadeThis one has a jelly formula, it needs at least two coats, otherwise, the tips are visible (I applied three on the swatches bellow). It applies well. It has a very shiny finish. But it is an absolute nightmare to take pictures of. I took literally hundreds of pictures in different lighting and a different background, but nothing worked. In reality, it's a bit less vibrant than on the swatches, less orangey and more like a true red.

Catrice ICONails Gel Lacquer 14 Mint Map and 05 It's All About Red

Do they really last up to seven days?  I have very weak nails and so far the only nail polishes that lasted on me for about 4-5 days were Essence The Gel Nail Polish with their top coat. I tested the Mint Map twice (both times without top coat) and it started to chip a bit on the fifth day. The red one I applied a few hours before I washed my hair and now on the fourth day there is no chipping, only on some fingers there are signs of wear, white tips. I'm so impressed, without top coat and if you consider I have very weak nails and that I actually washed my hair a few hours after I applied it.

I'm not sure about the formula of these nail polishes. It's not the same by these ones I have. Mint Map has a creamy formula and It's All About Red a jelly one, what I don't like. They both dry fast on my nails. Not mentioning the jelly formula, I loved both of the colours and I'm impressed at how long they last. I definitely have a few other shades on my WL, Rosewood Hills looks gorgeous and can I mention they have a shade called Johnny Deep? If I'm honest I would buy it just because of the name, I love Johnny Depp, but the colour is also nice, but maybe more appropriate for the fall/winter season. If you are interested, there is a whole collection now in Slovenian Müllers (at least in Maribor).

You can see all the swatches from this collection on Innenandaussen. And here you can see what Maša from Low Maintenance Beauty thinks about them. Thank you for reading!

  1. The lasting power is impressive, I have been using the Essence gel nail polish myself and I have 6-7 colours but they last 4-5 days on me which is great since most nail polishes last 2 days on my nails! Love the colours you got and it is amazing that they have 45 colours to choose from! Happy Sunday xx

    1. I didn't really expect they would last so long, but I am so happy they do :D Yes it is amazing, 45 colours, something for everyone :D

  2. Jaz sem si do zdaj namazala samo Rosywood Hills in se mi je začel z nadlakom krušit tretji dan. Tako, da so me razočarali. Odtenek mi je čudovit. Imam še Honeymoon Is Coming Soon.

For the Berry first time in Rosywood Hills :)

Btw, če ti fotoaparat čudno ujame barvo (rdeče so ponavadi premočne), namesto, da slikaš miljonkrat v različnih pogojih jih lahko popraviš v fotošopu (zmanjšaš vibrancy in dodaš čez moder sloj, da naredi bolj hladen odtenek).

    1. For the Berry first time sem jaz tudi gledala, ampak se mi zdi, da sem se malo naveličala takšnih odtenkov. Mogoče potem za jesen :)
Oh hvala, bom sprobala naslednjič, zadnje čase imam vedno več težav s temi barvami, pol pa urejam slike v PS par ur, na koncu pa mi včasih sploh všeč niso :/
